Technology and our reliance on it for doing business is moving at lightning speed. We’re talking constant updates, new algorithms and marketing strategies that are required to meet the demands of an ever-evolving marketplace. Staying on top of these advances is a vital part of staying on top of your business game.

With the new year…and a brand-new decade rapidly approaching, we’d like to shine a spotlight on a few key marketing trends for 2020.

Marketing Trends for 2020

Create a Mobile Storefront with Shoppable Posts

Shoppable posts are like virtual shopping windows found at a merchandise store. Yet virtual shopping gives your customers an easier way to browse and purchase. If you’re not using social media for marketing your business as well as providing a mobile storefront so customers can make purchases or reservations, you’re leaving a great deal of money on the table.

Case in point, a recent study showed that with Instagram (owned by Facebook), 72% of their users have purchased a product on the app. Another study showed that 74% of high-income earners use Facebook.

Facebook has positioned itself, along with Instagram as leading storefront revenue generators. According to Facebook, 130 million Instagram accounts tap on a shopping post to learn more about products every month, and 500 million accounts visit Instagram stories daily.

By 2020, mobile storefronts and shoppable posts are expected to be the norm.

2020 is the Year of Personalized Marketing

Consumers are becoming quite savvy when it comes to discerning which ad promotions personally connect to them and those do not. Traditional, less personal, broad-reach marketing is vastly becoming overhauled.

80% of consumers that were recently surveyed admitted they’d be more likely to give their business to a company that offered them a personalized experience. Email lists are still a viable means of communication as they actually lend themselves well to personalization. Personalized email blasts using targeted email lists have been shown to outperform generic emails sent to a broader list.

Personal testimonials and personalized messages that resonate with the viewer and their potential challenges, along with inspiring and optimistic solutions, are also effective strategies for connecting in a meaningful way with your target customer.

Interactive Content Wins the Attention

In today’s competitive marketplace, buyers need refreshing new experiences when they go online, that includes more meaningful interactivity. Approximately 90% are seeking more visual and interactive content. Why?

Interactive content, i.e. engaging your customers to engage with you is a unique and refreshing way to make more of an impact. Your visitors will stay on your page longer. Interactive content is highly shareable, and as users share this content, it organically grows awareness of your brand. If you want to stay ahead of the trend in 2020, then interactive marketing will serve you and your brand well this year.

And, let’s not overlook live video! Live videos on Facebook Live and Instagram Live videos are great interactive tools, as viewers get to engage in real time. It’s no wonder that the daily watch time for Facebook Live videos have quadrupled in just one year. They have shown to produce 6 times as many interactions as traditional videos.
